The Medical Assistant II is responsible for rooming all patients and maintaining timely work flow, maintaining and ordering of department patient care supplies, participating in department audits, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families.
High School Diploma/Equivalent
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Basic Life Support (BLS). Successful completion of medical terminology course within six (6) months of start date in position.
Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others.
Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
Blood sugar line- MA retrieves patient information from phone line and starts a message in EPIC- sometimes up to 3 weeks of blood sugar readings
Maintaining supplies and linens- ordering, checking expirations
Adding external labs- creating telephone encounters in EPIC
Assisting RNs with Forms/letters
Calling patients to retrieve blood sugars for multiple weeks. Entering data in flow records
POC testing- blood glucose
PRN - As Needed
