Department: Ambulance The EMT-Basic is responsible for the working knowledge of the ambulances, emergency equipment and supplies that are used on each ambulance. The EMT-B will maintain all the units and equipment in clean and working order. The EMT-B must obtain continuing education units necessary for recertification as established by the Illinois Department of Public Health and satisfactory completion of the skills checklist developed by the resource hospital. The EMT must follow policies and procedures for patient care as established by Wabash General Hospital, Wabash General Ambulance Service and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
- High School Graduate preferred. Successful completion of the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Course as outlined by the Department of Transportation and the Illinois Department of Public Health. - Current Emergency Medical Technician Licensure in the State of Illinois. - Professional CPR Certification. - Valid Illinois Driver’s License with proper classification. - One year of experience preferred. - May be required to work any day of the week including holidays and weekends. - The employees on call need to be within 20 minutes of WGH.
