Hours: 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. with Saturdays as needed
Status: Full Time

These standards are evident in the daily work, which includes responsibility for patient registration in the hospital setting. S/he collects patient demographic information and insurance information, verifies insurance information, collects any financial payments, and prepares/explains legal, ethical and compliance-related documents to patients. This position requires someone with great customer service skills, strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, as well as knowledge of health insurance, and the ability to maintain professionalism during stressful situations.
To succeed in this role, a person must be comfortable working a fast-paced, multi-tasking, clerical environment, as they will be interacting with patients via phone, in-person, and/or bedside all day. They must have competent computer skills, and understand health insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.
Working in Memorial Medical Center Main individuals can expect to assist in the following areas: 1E Main Surgery, 1B Admissions and Testing, Special Procedures Area and Direct Admits. Patient Access Specialists may be required to conduct bedside registrations at times or work with family members to obtain the necessary information.
Requirements for this position include:
High School diploma or equivalent
Working knowledge of health insurance
At least 1 year of previous business office experience
Knowledge of medical terminology, medical procedural (CPT), and diagnosis (ICD-9 CM) coding and hospital billing claims
