Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for identification, concept building, researching, and business case development for new products, services and markets that contribute to building and ensuring the future of Health Alliance, and are in line with our corporate mission, objectives, and strategies. Develops and leads a comprehensive market intelligence function to help the organization better understand industry trends and identify business opportunities in core and non-core businesses. Oversees all Health Alliance market research activities - performed in conjunction with the Carle Foundation research team. Maintains knowledge and understanding of various state filing and regulatory requirements related to product implementation and administration for both current and prospective markets.

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Health Care Administration, Business, or related field preferred. At least 8 years of significant leadership experience in health insurance product development required in lieu of degree.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
None Required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
7-10 years business experience with emphasis on research and strategic planning. Experience in Health Care or insurance industry preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must have a working knowledge of market research methodology and applications. Ability to conduct significant evaluation of strategic marketing, pricing and customer service issues is necessary. Strong analytic, organizational and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to look for alternative ways to achieve results. Strong interpersonal and management skills and the ability to motivate others to complete assignments.

Essential Functions:

Designs, develops and works with Project Management Department to implement new, innovative and profitable products and benefits.
Responsible for product design, including key features, and coordination of product performance standards, cost benefits, pricing strategy, market opportunity and positioning of new products.
Works with Compliance and specific product managers to deliver new products and redesign existing products that comply with state and federal regulatory requirements.
Identifies opportunities for internal strategic alliances and cross-selling.
Interacts with internal and external business partners to develop relationships and assemble competitive information.
Continuously reviews the effectiveness of existing products across the company, and facilitates needed enhancements.
Works with Carle Foundation market research department to manage planning, execution and completion of research projects on strategic and tactical competitive and market intelligence issues.
Provides data to Chief Sales & Marketing Officer to be used in market and strategic planning for the company.
Makes presentations on competitive trends to senior management and other client groups as appropriate.
Facilitates the tracking of competitive data (including rates, plan designs, etc.) and formulates that data into a user friendly format for ongoing information comparisons. Provides quarterly reports for trends.
Financial management of department budget and forecasting.
Adheres to and enforces Health Alliance Medical Plans and Carle Foundation Administrative and Departmental policies and procedures.
