Memorial Medical Center is looking for an engaged, enthusiastic cytotechnologist (or certification eligible) by the ASCP Board of Certification, especially with experience in rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) in some capacity, to join our rapidly expanding cytopathology team.
As part of our team you will have the opportunity to utilize your independent judgment and work autonomously to:
Perform cytologic evaluation of slides and report results via our CoPath Plus (AP-LIS) system for SurePath gynecological specimens as well as non-gynecological specimens such as body fluids, bronchial, gastric and urinary washings and brushings, bronchial lavages, sputums, urines, spinal fluids and fine needle aspirations.
Perform or assist with rapid onsite evaluation (ROSE) procedures for both fine needle aspirations and core biopsies (Ultrasound, CT, interventional radiology, ENT and Endocrinology clinics, endobronchial ultrasound guided (EBUS) and gastrointestinal endoscopic ultrasound-guided (EUS) biopsies), many utilizing our Nikon telecytopathology system.
Utilize the Roche cobas 4800 system for performing and resulting high-risk HPV and high risk HPV genotypes.
Provide technical and quality control support for the cytopathology laboratory.
Confer with colleagues and cytopathologists on interesting cases during nearweekly slide education events
Continuously learn to maintain certification and competencies with subscribed ASCP and CAP webinars and educational events in subjects such as gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytopathology, fine-needle aspiration biopsy, Touch Imprint/Crush Preparations, IHCs and special stains.
Utilize computer skills with Microsoft Office applications for efficient and effective team, safety and quality assurance communication.
Demonstrate your excellent customer service skills for communication and collaboration with other laboratory and hospital departments and outside clients.
Within 90 days you should be able to successfully pass competency evaluations in SurePath gynecological and non-gynecological slide evaluations and LIS reporting, specimen processing and accessioning, and ROSE procedure support.
Within 6 months you should be able to pass competency evaluations in performing and reporting HPV Testing as well as performing ROSE thyroid procedures both autonomously and via telecytology.
* Education: Baccalaureate degree in laboratory science from an accredited college/university with documentation of one year of training under a CAHEA accredited school of technology OR prior to September 1, 1992, an Associate Degree in laboratory science from an accredited college/university with documentation of one year of training under a CAHEA accredited school of technology.
* Must be ASCP certified or eligible.
